Mr.
Jump's past experience is predominantly in the audit side of the profession. He
began his career with one of the “Big Eight” accounting firms and quickly
advanced to the level of audit manager before starting his own firm in 1979.
Although his early years in the profession included the audits of
companies registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission he currently
balances his client service between the governmental (housing authorities) and
not-for-profit area, and privately held commercial entities.
In addition to being the first reviewing partner on public housing and
other audit clients, he is the second reviewing partner on all audits of the
firm. The second reviewing partner
is not responsible for such things as client billing, but he is required to
conduct a complete review of all of the engagement workpapers and financial
statements prior to issuance as well as all regulatory filings including REAC
submissions. Additionally, before
becoming a partner with the Firm, he was a designated post‑issuance
reviewer of the financial statements of governmental and not-for-profit
organizations with a National accounting firm.
He
is also actively involved in the peer review process, which is a requirement of
all firms that are members of the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants (AICPA). The quality
controls for the audit and accounting practice of the firms are reviewed at
least once every three years by an independent review team of their peers, who
are trained and approved by the AICPA. Mr.
Jump is not only responsible for our firm’s system of quality control, but he
also serves as a trained and approved team captain for the AICPA to review the
quality control of other accounting firms.
Mr.
Jump is currently a member of the New Jersey State Board of Accountancy, which
is a twelve member Board appointed by the Governor of New Jersey. The Board is
responsible for the licensing, education and ongoing monitoring of the State’s
twenty thousand plus accountants. The twelve members of the Board are made up of
seven Certified Public Accountants. As
a board member, it is Mr. Jump’s responsibility to protect the public by
assuring that CPA’s maintain current licenses and ongoing continuing education
while adhering to the highest ethical standards.
He is also Chairman of the Community Medical Center Foundation, member of
the Community Medical Center Board and past president of numerous professional,
civic and charitable organizations.
